Flip for a Cause: Pancake Breakfast to Benefit Republic Youth Sports Equipment Library

Bring your appetite and your community spirit to the RepMo Rotary Club’s Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Bair’s Sports Grill, located at 1644 US Highway 60 E. in Republic.

For just $10 per person, you can enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast while supporting a great local cause.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Republic Youth Sports Equipment Library, a program that provides free access to quality sports gear for local children participating in youth sports with the Republic Parks Department. Equipment is loaned out to coaches for players to use during the various seasons.

“This breakfast is about more than pancakes,” said David Burton, president of the RepMo Rotary Club. “It’s about making youth sports accessible to every kid in Republic, regardless of financial barriers. When you eat with us, you're helping put a bat, glove, or soccer ball in a child's hands.”

Costs for sports equipment adds of quickly. A youth soccer ball starts at $20. While baseball bats and gloves start around $25 each. A basketball starts at $15.

According to Burton, the club's goal is to raise $2000 which would add around 100 new items to the sports equipment library.

Programs like the sports equipment library are vital because they help remove one of the most common obstacles to youth participation—affordability. When kids can play without worrying about whether they have the right gear, they gain more than just physical activity. They build friendships, learn teamwork, grow in confidence, and stay connected to caring adult mentors. That kind of inclusive community spirit is something we should all get behind.

Supporting this effort isn’t just an investment in sports—it’s an investment in kids. It’s about giving every child a chance to play, belong, and thrive. Whether you're a parent, coach, business owner, or neighbor, this is a simple way to make a lasting impact right here at home.

"The RepMo Rotary Club plans to do an annual event in support of the sports equipment library," said Burton. "We need residents, coaches and supporters of local sports help us make this first year a success."
