KY3 Spotlights the Power of Neighboring with 2025 PSAs on Missouri Good Neighbor Week
Once again, KY3 in Springfield is stepping up to help promote the idea of good neighboring and to celebrate Missouri Good Neighbor Week (Sept. 28 – Oct. 4) by running three different public service announcements (PSAs) on a regular basis. Special thanks to Daniel Posey for producing these creative and inspiring spots.
KY3, the NBC affiliate in Springfield, Missouri, has become an essential partner in encouraging residents to move from being good neighbors to becoming engaged neighbors. Through their on-air broadcasts and online presence, they’ve helped the message of connection, kindness, and community spread to thousands across the Ozarks.
Why PSAs Matter for Community Connection
Public Service Announcements are a powerful communication tool because they combine storytelling, visuals, and repetition to influence community behavior. Unlike ads designed to sell a product, PSAs exist to inspire action and create awareness around important causes.
-
They reach people where they are — often during daily routines like watching the news or their favorite programs.
-
They normalize the desired behavior — when “good neighboring” shows up regularly on TV, it becomes part of everyday conversation.
-
They inspire action through example — PSAs often feature relatable people and situations that make viewers think, “I could do that!”
In a time when many communities are struggling with disconnection, loneliness, and division, PSAs are a reminder that small acts—like introducing yourself, checking in on a neighbor, or hosting a gathering—can make a big difference.
2025 KY3 Good Neighbor Week PSAs
1. PSA: The Power of Small Acts
This video captures the idea that even small acts of kindness can ripple through a neighborhood. From lending a hand with yard work to offering a listening ear, it reminds us that being there for each other builds trust and connection.
2. PSA: Every Neighbor Counts
Here, the focus is on inclusivity—reminding us that every neighbor, regardless of age, background, or how long they’ve lived nearby, has value and something to offer. It’s a call to notice and appreciate the people around us.
3. PSA: Make the First Move
This spot encourages viewers to take that important first step—introducing yourself to someone new, extending an invitation, or breaking the ice with a friendly wave. Sometimes all it takes to change the culture of a neighborhood is for one person to start the conversation.
