You are Invited to Become a Charter Member of RepMo Rotary Club

Republic is the largest city in the southern half of Missouri without a Rotary Club, but that ends on March 10 when the RepMo Rotary Club holds its first meeting.

The Club will hold its first meeting on Monday, March 10 from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. in the  Community Room at Republic Library, 921 North Lindsey Ave. Food: This club is starting as a Brown Bag club (bring your own).

The RepMo Rotary Club will meet monthly at the library (second Tuesday of each month) and have one monthly social or service project a month at various times and locations.

The Springfield Downtown Rotary Club, which has existed for over 100 years, is the official sponsor for the RepMo Rotary Club.

Guest speakers at this first meeting will be Lisa Bakerink, president of the Downtown Springfield Rotary Club, and Rowland Geddie, District Governor, Rotary International District 6080.

A minimum of 20 charter members is needed to officially launch a full club. Attendees at this start up meeting will also have the opportunity to sign up for committees and to serve on the club board.

David Burton, a resident of Republic, has worked over the last six months to get the Rotary Club started.

"I was inspired by the documentary 'Join or Die' to join something and serve in my community, but the options were limited. The formation of the RepMo Rotary Club is in response to that desire and an expressed community need," said Burton. "I think this is an incredible opportunity to become part of a dynamic group dedicated to service, community, and making a positive impact both locally and globally."

Rotary Club members must be adult persons of good character and good business, professional and/or community reputation who agree to uphold high ethical standards in their personal, business and community life as well as in their interaction with other people generally.

An annual membership fee is charged to be a part of Rotary.

"Whether you’re new to Rotary or have been a member elsewhere, we welcome all who are passionate about service and want to make a difference. Feel free to bring a friend or colleague who might be interested in joining as well," said Burton.

Rotary International is the world’s largest service organization organized around the following mission statement: Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change -- across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
