Celebrate Agriculture Week: Webster/Greene County Agriculture Groups Collaborate to Combat Food Insecurity

The Webster County Farm Bureau Board lead a collaborative food security project in partnership with Greene County 4-H Teen Council, Glendale FFA, Mighty Eagles 4-H Club, Seymour FFA, and Niangua FFA on Monday, February 16, at the Seymour High School.

50 youth and adults stood elbow to elbow to pack over 11,000 meals that are being distributed to local food pantries and food security projects. This event trained students to recognize local needs and emboldened them to participate in collaborative neighborhood leadership. Participants wrapped up this 2nd annual event as they enjoyed lunch together, cooked by Missouri Farm Bureau leadership.

More than 1,000 meals were distributed to each of the following food security projects: Marshfield Food Pantry, Elkland Food Pantry, Niangua Food Pantry, Niangua Care to Learn, ‘The Branch’ at Glendale, King’s Food Pantry-Seymour, Care to Learn-Fordland, Safe Haven Now-Fordland, Safe Haven Now-Rogersville, the Greene County Juvenile Center, and Least of These Food Pantry.

Each collaborating partner group monetarily invested to purchase meal packing supplies. Each 4-H and FFA group were sponsored or awarded grants from the Drive to Feed Kids, funded by the Missouri Farmers Care Foundation. Each year these grants encourage and enable youth organizations to identify local community needs, craft solutions, and execute results. Webster County Farm Bureau, Greene County Farm Bureau, Christian County Farm Bureau, and both the Webster and Greene County MU Extension Councils, provided financial resources.

This event celebrated National FFA Week, is a part of #4-H Feeding Missouri, and recognizes Celebrate Agriculture: Thank a Farmer Week, (which is taking place March 1-7, 2026) and is a part of the Missouri Farmers Care 2026 Drive to Feed Kids, which creates opportunities for all Missourians to make a difference in the fight against hunger.

Hunger Stops Here collaborative partners would like to thank the following local businesses for their support of this project: CopperTop Legacy Agriculture, Apple Market-Rogersville, and Faith-Fire Protection-Seymour.
