The new Missouri Good Neighbor Week Ambassador Program is for people who believe stronger communities begin with stronger relationships between neighbors.


When you register as an Ambassador, you'll gain access to our new online Ambassador Portal, designed to make it quick and easy to report your acts of neighboring throughout the year and help us tell the story of neighboring across Missouri.

As a Missouri Good Neighbor Week Ambassador, you'll receive:

  • Free access to neighborhood training videos with practical ideas for building connection, belonging and trust where you live.
  • Early notice of special events and opportunities happening across Missouri.
  • Access to special Ambassador events and opportunities throughout the year.
  • The opportunity to be part of a growing statewide movement making neighboring visible, celebrated and contagious.


What We Ask of Ambassadors


Being an Ambassador is simple. We ask you to:

  • Practice neighboring throughout the year and report your activities through the Ambassador Portal.
  • Promote Missouri Good Neighbor Week on social media and encourage others to get involved.
  • Share at least one success story with us following Missouri Good Neighbor Week, celebrated each year September 28–October 4.


There are no complicated requirements. You don't need to organize a major event or lead a neighborhood association. You simply need a desire to connect with the people around you and help encourage others to do the same.


Our new theme says it best: A Year of Neighboring Activity. A Week to Celebrate It!


Missouri Good Neighbor Week may be celebrated September 28–October 4, but being a good neighbor is a year-round opportunity. Our Ambassadors will help us demonstrate what can happen when thousands of Missourians make small, intentional acts of neighboring part of everyday life.

Twenty Missouri residents have been honored as the state’s Most Engaged Neighbors for 2025. These awards highlight everyday Missourians whose commitment to their neighborhoods strengthens community bonds and creates belonging across the state. The recognition is part of Missouri Good Neighbor Week, celebrated annually from September 28 to October 4. Nominations for “Missouri’s Most Engaged Neighbors” Accepted February to October 1 Annually

  SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The statewide recognition of Missouri’s "Most Engaged Neighbor" as part of Missouri Good Neighbor Week (Sept. 28 to Oct. 4) is accepting nominations now at http://missourigoodneighborweek.com . This statewide award has been been presented since 2022. But starting in 2024, the nomination link has been open from mid-February to October 1 (to collect more nominations) not just during Missouri Good Neighbor Week.    Every person nominated is acknowledged with an official letter and keepsake memento. Those selected as the ten "Most Engaged Neighbors" in Missouri will be announced and recognized during Missouri Good Neighbor Week (Sept. 28 - Oct. 4). Results of 2024 Missouri Good Neighbor Week Exceed 30,000 Acts of Neighboring!

  Several hands have been busy tabulating the final results from the 4th Annual Missouri Good Neighbor Week. While those volunteers and partners are invaluable, people like you are also worthy of thanks.  Individual Missourians who reported their acts of neighboring nominated someone for an award, or organized a block party! Or you were on one of 60 committees with University of Missouri Extension to organize county-level efforts that account for over 14,000 acts of neighboring this year!  No matter your role or level of involvement, thank you. On another positive note, the efforts in Missouri have not gone unnoticed. In the last month, I have received inquiries about the creation of other statewide neighbor weeks from Massachusetts, Michigan, Connecticut, California, Florida, Oklahoma, Washington, and Colorado.
